Accessibility and Keyboard Navigation in Mojo Helpdesk

Mojo Helpdesk supports keyboard navigation across the agent portal and user portal, allowing users to complete support workflows without a mouse.
General Keyboard Navigation
The following keys are used to navigate the interface:
- Tab — move forward through interactive elements
- Shift + Tab — move backward through interactive elements
- Enter — activate a link or button
- Space — check or uncheck a checkbox; activate a button
- Arrow keys — navigate within dropdowns, menus, and radio button groups
- Escape — close a modal, dropdown, or overlay
Skip Navigation
A hidden "Skip to main content" link appears at the top of every page when keyboard focus is active. Press Tab once after loading any page to reveal it, then press Enter to jump directly to the main content area and bypass the navigation.
Rich Text Editor Toolbar
When composing a ticket reply or description, the rich text editor toolbar is not included in the default Tab order. Pressing Tab moves focus directly into the editor content area.
To access formatting options in the toolbar via keyboard:
- Windows / Linux: Alt + Shift + F10
- Mac: Option + Shift + F10
Once the toolbar is focused, use Left/Right arrow keys to move between toolbar buttons and Enter or Space to activate them. Press Escape to return focus to the editor content area.
Ticket List Context Menu
To access the context menu for a ticket row without a mouse:
- Tab to any field within a ticket row to give it focus
- Press Shift + F10 to open the context menu
- Use arrow keys to navigate menu options
- Press Enter to select an option
- Press Escape to close the menu without selecting
Ticket Rating
When submitting a satisfaction rating on a resolved ticket:
- Tab to the star rating widget
- Use arrow keys or number keys 1–5 to select a rating
- Tab to the Submit button and press Enter to confirm
Keyboard Shortcuts
Mojo Helpdesk includes keyboard shortcuts for common agent actions using sequential key combinations. To view all available shortcuts, press 0 from anywhere in the agent portal outside a form field. This opens the keyboard shortcuts help modal with the full list.
Keyboard shortcuts can be disabled via Profile Settings → Keyboard Shortcuts.
Screen Reader Support
Mojo Helpdesk is designed to work with screen readers including VoiceOver on macOS and iOS. Key accessibility features include:
- All interactive elements have descriptive labels accessible to screen readers
- Status messages including ticket confirmations and error notifications are announced automatically
- Modal dialogs manage focus automatically on open and close
- Form validation errors are programmatically associated with their fields and announced on focus
Browser and Assistive Technology Recommendations
For the best keyboard navigation experience:
- Mac: Enable full keyboard navigation in System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Navigation
- Safari: Enable Press Tab to highlight each item in Safari → Settings → Advanced
- Chrome supports full keyboard navigation by default on all platforms
